Plastic pollution is one of the greatest challenges of our time. Conventional recycling methods are not enough – we need revolutionary approaches and a shift towards circular economy.

Our Answer: OHPC – Nature as a Model

Rice husks & seashells – a quiet revolution for the circular economy

What was previously considered agricultural or maritime waste is becoming a sustainable resource: The rice husk – the natural protective shell of the rice grain – and the seashell – a mineral residue from aquaculture – are produced worldwide in millions of tons. Due to their structure, both materials are robust, but difficult to decompose. Therefore, they are usually burned or landfilled – with negative consequences for the environment and climate.
iECOV uses this potential: Through the combination of rice husks and finely ground shell limestone, an innovative biomaterial – OHPC – is created, which is biodegradable, avoids CO₂ emissions and can be completely returned to the natural cycle.

OHPC – Oryza Huskia Pescae Compositum

A bio-composite material developed by iECOV from two natural raw materials: plant-based rice husks and mineral oyster shells. The result: 100% natural, biodegradable and technically tested – a real alternative to plastic.

  • Compostable in just 90 days (DIN EN 13432 certified)
  • Microplastic-free & tested for harmful substances (REACH, RoHS, LFGB-compliant)
  • CO₂-neutral production (according to ISO 14064)

All products are stable, biodegradable, thoughtfully designed and meet the requirements of the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD), where applicable.
